THE INVENTORY CHALLENGE

2

million visible species (flora and fauna) have been identified, out of an estimated 8 to 20 million species

7300

invisible species (bacteria, viruses) have been identified out of 600.000 to 6 billions estimated species: microbiota of the oceans, soil, forests

80%

of DNA sequenced in soils and oceans is unknown (blological dark matter)

THE ACCELERATING RATE OF COLLAPSE

  • An unprecedented decline of species in human history
  • Extinction rates are between 100 and 1000 times higher than normal renewal rates
  • Extinction rates are constantly accelerating

OUR PURPOSE

TO MAKE EVERYONE COUNTS, EVERYTHING COUNTS, EVERYWHERE COUNTS

  • speeding up the inventory of biodiversity before collapse
  • providing metrics to assess the impacts of human actions
  • making biodiversity counting a profitable economic activity that creates jobs
  • reconnecting citizens to nature
  • generating a unique database on biodiversity

...TO GENERATE A UNIQUE DATABASE ACCESSIBLE TO ALL

  • E1C will be in a position to generate global mass data, valuable for characterizing biodiversity
  • E1C will structure, administer and enrich this open source unique database for scientific research
  • E1C and its experts team, will make possible the construction of metrics to understand, debate and act
  • E1C will have its own team of data scientists for data analysis
